The production process of olive oil, one of the key components of the Mediterranean diet—considered among the healthiest diets in the world—was the focus of an event organized at our University. During the event, participants tasted various olive oil samples and evaluated them in terms of aroma, flavor, and quality.
Organized by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Telli from the Department of Biology, Division of General Biology, the event titled "Have You Ever Tasted Real Olive Oil?" featured two distinguished experts, Elvira Taushkanova and Prof. Dr. Mücahit Taha Özkaya. They provided detailed information about the olive oil production process, explaining each stage from the planting of olive trees to harvesting, pressing, and storage, and answered participants' questions.
Held on April 25, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Alper Karakaş Seminar Hall, the event attracted great interest from both academics and students. Participants had the opportunity to conduct sensory analysis (tasting tests) with different olive oil samples. At the end of the program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Telli presented certificates of appreciation to the guest speakers.
