Advising and Course Registration Process for Students at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University
A faculty member assigned by the Department Head from the faculty members of the Department is appointed as an advisor for each student who gains the right to register for the programs/departments of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. This appointment starts from the registration date and continues until the student graduates.
During the course registration process, the courses that students have registered for and sent for advisor approval are reviewed by the advisors in this stage. If necessary, corrections or adjustments are made and approved.
It is recommended that students meet face-to-face with their advisors during the "Add/Drop Courses/Advisor Approvals" process.
The advisor compares the courses the student has registered for with the department’s teaching plan and ensures the general control of the course registration.
Any possible registration errors made during the "Course Registration" process are corrected in the presence of the student, and any missing courses are added.
Course registrations for students who could not register due to a valid excuse during the "Course Registration" process can be made during this process.
Courses that have been registered but not sent for advisor approval can be sent for approval during this process. For this, a course is deleted from the student’s course registration list, and the “Send for Advisor Approval” icon that becomes active on the top right of the screen is selected.
The advisor checks whether the student has completed the required number of mandatory courses and elective course pools from previous semesters, as well as the mandatory courses and elective pool for the current semester.
The output showing the list of courses the student registered for through the University Information Management System during the "Course Registration" process (signed by the student) is delivered to the advisor. (The course registration lists are archived by the advisors.)
Changes made to the courses and add/drop operations are written by the student in the empty area at the bottom of the course registration list printout.
Final course registration is made based on the teaching plan and transcript data.
After the completion of the "Course Registration" and "Add/Drop Courses/Advisor Approvals" processes, no further changes can be made through the University Information Management System. Students cannot drop courses, register for new ones, change courses, or request course equivalency after this period.
