Strong Interest from Secondary Education Institutions in Our University
12th-grade students from surrounding provinces who are preparing for the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) are visiting the faculties and schools of our university to make informed decisions during their university selection process.
Student Groups from Various Cities Visited Our University
On Wednesday, May 21, students from Davut Fırıncıoğlu Anatolian High School (Bartın) and Kıymet and Mustafa Yazıcı Anatolian High School (Karabük) visited our Faculty.
One day prior, on Tuesday, May 20, students from Bartın High School visited the Faculties of Law and Dentistry. On Wednesday, May 21, students from Piri Reis Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School (Samsun) visited the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.
Introductory Presentation at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences
As part of the visit, Research Assistants Şevket Şahin Özen and Alper Ataman from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences gave informative presentations. Students were provided with detailed information about the faculty’s academic and administrative units, course contents, laboratory facilities, student clubs, and Erasmus opportunities.
A Natural and Academically Successful Learning Environment
During the presentation, it was emphasized that the faculty is located on the Gölköy Campus, just 9 km from the city center of Bolu and close to Turkey’s two major metropolitan cities, Ankara and Istanbul. Surrounded by nature with views of lakes and forests, the campus offers exceptional physical facilities. The faculty, which ranks highly in national and international academic rankings, provides students with a rich academic environment that supports scientific, social, cultural, and sporting development.
Historical Mission and Academic Structure
Our faculty, whose foundations were laid in 1990 by the İzzet Baysal Foundation, was officially established with the founding of Abant İzzet Baysal University in 1992 and admitted its first students in 1993. Attendees were given comprehensive information about the faculty’s 30-year history, its vision, and current academic structure.

Program Types and Current Practices
In addition to day programs, evening programs were previously offered in the departments of History, Sociology, and Turkish Language and Literature. However, in accordance with a decision by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), evening program quotas at all public universities were discontinued starting from the 2024–2025 academic year.
Academic and Administrative Staff
The faculty employs a total of 147 academic and 21 administrative-technical-support staff members. This strong team works full-time to maintain high-quality education and research activities.
An Interdisciplinary Approach
The Faculty of Arts and Sciences stands out with its interdisciplinary structure, bringing together natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences. The presentation explained how these three core academic approaches are integrated into a cohesive structure throughout the faculty.
Introduction of Our University’s History and Founder
The visits also included a presentation about the life and philanthropy of the university’s founder, the late İzzet Baysal. Our academics shared in-depth information on the university’s historical development, the structure of the faculty, and the educational opportunities provided.
Campus Life Observed Firsthand
Participating students toured the Gölköy Campus and explored key social areas such as the Congress Center, Cultural Center, Activity Center, and Çamkent Life Center. This firsthand experience of the university’s physical infrastructure and student life facilities left a positive impression on prospective students.
